समय तो ख़ुद-बा-ख़ुद ही निकल जाता है
जब तक जिए फिज़ाओं में

चंद घड़ियां भी बहुत लंबी लगती है
ग़म की छाओ में

दोनों ही वक़्त, झूठे और बेमतलबी है
पर जीवन भर समझ ना सके

कोल्हू के बैल की नाइ
बस चलते ही गए, चलते ही गए

ज़मीर बेचा और प्यार बिक गया
अच्छा वक़्त लाने के लिए

कमबख़्त वक़्त तोह आया नहीं
पर मौत आ गई सुलाने के लिए

अब अपना ही घर नहीं मिल रहा है मुझे
अपने ही गांव में

तन मेरे बहुत जल रहा है
पुराने बरगद की छाओं में

अब अक्ल आए भी तो क्या
तांश के पत्तो का खेल तो पूरा हो गया

अब माफ़ी मांगे भी तो क्या
ज़माने भर के लिए में बुरा हो गया

अब सोच रहा हूं कि कुदरत एक मौका और दे अगर
तो गलतियां सुधार लू

इस बार औरों के लिए जियू
और ज़माने भर को प्यार दू

पर यहां दूसरा मौका देते नहीं
कहते की बेऐतबारी है

अल्लाह को रो कर क्या कहूं
जब गलती ही हमारी है

गर वक़्त है तो जान लो विशाल
सब मिट्टी है और मेला है

पूरे यकीन से इबादत करो उस रब की
गर मजनू है तो लेला है

वोह है, वोह है, वोह है, वोह है
बाकी कुछ नहीं

यह उसकी महफ़िल का नशा है
शराब और साकी कुछ नहीं

इबादत ही सच है, बाकी कुछ नहीं
